Keeping Construction Moving Through a Harsh Staten Island Winter
I remember the biting cold of that brutal 2003 winter in Tompkinsville. Frozen ground and delayed ferries made getting equipment and supplies a nightmare. One construction site near the Snug Harbor Cultural Center was at a standstill because they couldn’t get reliable restroom facilities on site. Crews were frustrated, and delays meant losing valuable workdays in an already tight schedule.
We jumped in with our toughest portable toilets, designed to withstand freezing temps and delivered them first thing the morning of. Our crew set everything up close to the work zone to keep workers warm and on task. The site stayed operational through the freeze, and the project manager told us they avoided costly shutdowns thanks to our quick response.
Their timely delivery saved our project from freezing to a halt during the worst winter I’ve seen.
